The Runner - Short Film

The Runner is an independent short film that I created entirely on my own, from scriptwriting and storyboarding to filming, acting, color grading, editing, and more. I then developed the entire visual identity surrounding the film, as well as the marketing campaigns designed to promote it.

The story follows Louis, a young Frenchman searching for meaning, who suddenly leaves everything behind and moves to Australia, 17,000 km away from home, barely telling anyone before he goes. There, a slower way of life, a reconnection with nature, and a newfound passion for running might just help him find himself.

Art Direction

As a small independent short film, I felt that its visual identity needed to be bold and distinctive in order to help it stand out. I chose vintage-inspired textures and references drawn from the Australian outback, where the film was shot, and built the visual communication around two strong colors: red and yellow, making the film instantly recognizable.

Collaboration & Merchandising

To establish the film within the running scene, I envisioned a collaboration with Strava built around two dimensions: digital and physical.

The idea was to feature a selection of exclusive routes on the app, designed around escaping into nature and aimed at beginner and intermediate runners, echoing one of the film’s core themes. A limited-edition running merchandise collection would further extend the experience, featuring a range of high-quality pieces.

Advertising Campaign

“Where is Louis?” is an advertising campaign I imagined around the disappearance of the film’s protagonist. The campaign uses fake missing-person posters and newspaper front pages, each featuring a hotline that people can call to uncover clues and information about the film.

The idea is to blur the line between fiction and reality, sparking curiosity, engaging potential viewers, and generating conversation around the film in public spaces.
